AI chat & receipt scanning

With AI chat you can add transactions, scan receipts, and ask questions about your money — all by typing the way you’d send a message. AI chat requires a Premium subscription.

To open it, tap the Lode AI button (the sparkles) at the bottom of the Dashboard.

Adding a transaction

Type the amount and what it’s for — Lode figures out the rest.

Lode suggests a category and a date, and if you have more than one account you can pick the account right on the card. You’ll see a confirmation card before anything is saved — review it and tap Confirm, or tap the pencil to change a detail first.

Adding multiple transactions at once

Put several in one message and Lode will create them all in one go.

Each transaction gets its own confirmation card. Cancel or edit any of them on its own, then tap Confirm All to save the rest — or Cancel All.

Scanning a receipt

Tap + next to the message field and choose Scan Receipt or Invoice to take a photo, or Choose from Photos to pick up to five images at once. You can also touch and hold the Lode AI button on the Dashboard and slide to Scan Receipt.

Lode reads the total, who was paid, the date and the currency, and picks a category. Besides paper receipts it reads invoices and screenshots of a payment in a bank, wallet or online checkout — a refund or an incoming transfer becomes income. Clear, well-lit photos work best.

Creating other things

Beyond transactions, you can create goals, debts, and bills the same way.

The chat can also add money to a goal, record a debt payment, create an account, a category or a tag, and edit or delete a transaction. Budgets, trips, settings, imports and exports are managed on their own screens, not in the chat.

Voice input

Tap the microphone in the message field to dictate instead of typing, then send the message as usual.

The microphone on the Dashboard’s bottom bar is a quicker way to log: say one or several expenses, incomes or subscriptions and review them before they’re saved. Goals, debts and questions go to the chat. On the free plan it works three times a month.

Privacy

The first time you use Lode AI, it asks before sending anything. Your text and financial summaries — and any image you attach — are sent to Google Gemini through a secure proxy for processing, and nothing is stored on Lode’s servers. You can switch Lode AI off in Settings at any time; that also stops voice capture and the Siri shortcuts that rely on AI.

Tips

When you move a transaction to another category, Lode remembers where that merchant goes and files its next payments there. If something was created incorrectly, just type what to change and Lode will fix it. You don’t need to use exact category names — Lode understands context.
